RFID regulations
Each country controls the use of the radio spectrum within its jurisdiction. Click here to view a summary of the regulations governing UHF RFID in various countries around the world.
The Comité International de Postes et Telecommunications [in English: European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations] (CEPT), which governs EU spectrum use, agreed unanimously to adopt a new European Standard, EN 302 208 for UHF RFID in September 2004. The standard can be downloaded from www.etsi.org
The standard provides for the use of RFID in the 865 to 868 MHz frequency band using a Listen Before Talk (LBT) protocol at power levels up to 2 Watts. This standard has been adopted into national legislation in a number of European countries and was approved by Ofcom for adoption in the UK in November 2005.
