INDU
Starting with 2000, in the sectorial INTEX programme for promoting the GS1 encoding for the textil industry, the analyse of GS1 Romania Association’s experts showed the lack of poice between the CEROM stipulated number of products and the bar coded products in stores (many of the them from importation). As a result of these analysis, GS1 Romania defined its goal to attract the importers in the GS1 community by recording the imported products ( the barcode provided by the foreign producer, GS1 member) to obtain a correct image in the romanian catalogue of the commercial goods on the national market. To identify the imported products from the national ones from CEROM, GS1 Romania ask a dedicated manufacturing catalogue. The recorded societies are GS1 bar codes owners: The society code (GLN ), and the products codes (GTIN) that are assigned and supervised by GS1 Romania. The INDU catalogue content tries to remain the faithful image of the comercial goods on national market.
In the same context,( for the promoting of the romanian products) , in the international field, GS1 Romania is interested in coupling the specialised catalogues to the GS1 international catalogues network. by coupling the INDU catalogue to the EANnet.ro network, GS1 Romania wants to allign data to the data structures from the international global commerce specialised networks using the international global classification. National and international products classyfing is a necessity in the business areas from the country or from the entire world. It is important for the business partners’ agreement because it uses a common obvious and unambiguous language, eliminating the diffrences between cultures and dialogue languages.
Willing to open the way to a global standard identification of the manufacturing products, GS1 Romania imposed in the catalogue the global classification sheme of the Global Register (GS1-Global Product Classification) and it didn’t imply in the local products classification. In this classify, the products are classified in groups and subgroups and the information are completed with the specific attributes depending on the role played in human life by the material, colour, constructive form and size.
The catalogue is easily accessed by allvisitor categories It is the first national manufacture catalogue which has no limits ( in products number or in space) beeing reserved to GS1 community. The recorded GS1 member societies are obliged to manage the information in the catalogue, to make updates for a real promoting of the products.
Now, INDU is not an electronic orders specialised catalogue. It is designed with two access ways: one for the common visitor who wants information about the selling products on national market and another password protected one for the producers which administrate the database.
The window, accesible to the visitor, can be viewed by climbing the classification network tree on the screen of the catalogue. By accessing a branch from the classification tree, the compound subgroups can be noticed. The accessed subgroup enables the viewing of the products list and their associated pictures.
The administrators of the information are the producers that must submit to some imposed rules in loading data in the databases. First, the international classification must be submitted. It is loaded from the helping lists regarding every subgroup attributes.
Another rule is to encode the products according to GS1 standard. The codes in the catalogue are the same with the ones on the associated labels but they are also reference points that can be used in the orders between partners. Inside the catalogue, the data loading obeys the next rule: the first loaded code is the generic code of the model at the most detailed level (including the ending details), then the codes regarding the size and colour detailed level, in a code array. For the compound products (suits) that are sold together in packages, the generic compund product code is loaded and then the compounds parts will be separately loaded . If the compound parts are separately sold then they will be found in the associated subgroups.
The catalogue is designed to be loaded with pictures for the model, adding pictures for the material type, colour or prints.
To access this catalogue, the suppliers and the distributors benefit of the reduction of the searching time for information about the products and partners but also of the development of the selling opportunities by a superior availability of the information.
