What is GDS?
Data synchronisation is an electronic business process which ensures trading partners’ product databases are kept the same as each other, thus creating a greater opportunity for business efficiency and growth.
Global Data Synchronisation (GDS) takes this process and associated benefits further, by ensuring the data synchronisation is in full compliance with global industry standards.
These standards are defined by GS1 and are an essential element of the Global Data Synchronisation Network (GDSN). This is a network of GDSN-certified data pools that enables data to be captured and exchanged in a secure environment.
Using GDS means the inefficiencies and increased costs inherent in proprietary systems are avoided. Instead, all companies using GDS only enter their data once and can send this data to multiple users, nationally and globally.
GDS is used today by thousands of retailers and suppliers worldwide who are already reaping the benefits of live GDS implementations.
